My new local.

I met up with the Lady with the Legs again last night, normally I have a rather strict policy on not seeing any girl for two days in a row (As it can give them entirely the wrong idea) but she was reviewing a bar that was close to where I live so I thought it would be fine to make an exception.

It turned out that this bar, was far, far closer than I thought it was. I could very easily walk there fresh from the bath and still be steaming by the time I have my first drink. Of course I won't be testing this theory, but it gives you an idea of how dangerous this bar is going to be for me.

The food was extremely good, being Swedish in style and flown in to ensure an authentic taste, the wild Swedish Oysters were knee tremblingly good, possibly the best in London. I can still remember the sharp, yet salty taste of them. Even if I hadn't sampled the cocktails I would have recommended this place to a friend but after the cocktails I think I may see about moving in.

I had a 'deep martini' which was a pleasant mash of elderflower and vodka which was good and had the right mix of subtle flavours and the heady kick one expects from a martini. The cucumber martini that followed it was even better, gentle flavours and not a hint of the power behind it. Of course all of these were knocked for six by the positively spiffing cocktails that featured a new Korean Vodka that is flavoured with mint and strawberries, it was a kin to supping on a warm day in spring, deeply refreshing and with a complex, long taste. It will also be the perfect cocktail for dating as it has strawberries (Which are terribly important if one is going to be naughty later on, as they are splendid source of zinc) and mints so your breath is fresh and sweet.

This bar is going to definitely feature in my seductions, it is perfectly placed for post-bar strolls along the river and has all the right elements.

Anyway, back to the story. I chatted away with the Lady with the legs about various things, she was going off to see another bar so I walked her to her cab at which point she found out that the person she was going to see this other bar with had cancelled. She invited me along and, as I thought it would be rude to leave a lady alone with cocktails I gave in and went along.

The second bar was more of an evening place, the football was on which rather spoiled the atmosphere. 'Legs' threw a bit of a strop about this which I must admit was rather unbecoming. I thought the food was good and I had a very pleasant real apple Martini which was awfully refreshing and made the cab journey home pass in a pleasant blur.

I have committed to a night out with the chaps tonight, we haven't done one for a while and they can be jolly rummy once things get going. Hopefully they won't get ruined on whisky again and end up having a heart to heart at me again. There are times and places for that sort of thing and jolly nights out is not one of them.

Tequila...

Last night I went to the opening of a new bar with the Lady with the Legs, it was rather nice, if a bit of a slog to get there. I had my first Appletini which was interesting if a little strange on the pallette, possibly due to it not having any real apples in it.

The bar was full of pretty, tall Boho types and some actress who looked familiar but I couldn't place exactly. I met some friends of the Lady with the legs, who seemed pleasant enough. After the bar closed down we went to a little mexican place around the corner and drank an awful lot of Tequila and ate things that made my mouth all hot so I ended up drinking even more.

At about midnight I stumbled home and collapsed into bed, a bit more drunk than I thought I was. I feel a bit strange today as I didn't get a terribly good nights sleep, and for some reason my wrist really aches. Weird.

I am not entirely sure what is going on with Legs, we get on well enough but I don't know if I want things to progress or change from what they are - drinks every now and then and the occasional party.

The Girl with the Brown Eyes

I Had a rather decadent day at work, most of it was spent in an alcholic daze as we were taken out by one of the companies who work for us. I didn't drink that much for lunch, as I knew I was meeting up with someone else later and for that sort of meeting it never pays to turn up absolutely smashed.

I ended up arriving a dash late for the meeting, as the bar was not exactly where I had expected it to be. It was a pleasant bar, with dark walls and a faint chinese feel to it. As I entered she was on the phone and drinking a mojito. We talked about work related things for a bit and then ended up talking about dating (she is single) and how courtship works differently in Spain (where she is from) and in England.

I am still not sure about her. She is rather lovely it is part of her job to be charming to people so one can never tell if all the positive signals are just her trying to get something out of you. Anyway there was talk of going for drinks at a cuban place soon so we shall see.

Yet another bus encounter

I was on the bus on the way home as usual reading some woman's magazine. Anyway, I glanced at a rather pretty girl next to me but didn't pay her much attention. After a few minutes she started fiddling with her phone and then mine started to ring.

It turned out it was the Virgin, with entirely different hair (curly now) and looking rather fetching. We still haven't set a date for supper but she did suggest I drag her along to a party at some point. Which I think is a terribly good plan. I am going to have to start paying more attention on the bus.

I am meeting the girl with the lovely brown eyes tonight for drinks so that should be nice, it should be interesting as we didn't talk a great deal when we first met so this will almost be a blind-date.

Lunch...

I met the girl from Totnes for lunch today, we talked about lots of things and she mentioned how she has 'more sex' as a new years resolution. It was pleasant, but she was on a 'detox' so she wasn't drinking, which means it didn't turn into a traditional boozy afternoon thing.

We are going to meet up again when I am back home in the Westcountry so that will be good. Meeting up outside of work is always different, especially when we will both be on home turf.

The girl I had a picnic with emailed me today, I am not sure if I think having with dinner with her is a good idea, i don't want to lead her on and I don't approve of using people just because they can get you nice things.

I am rather looking forward to the date/meeting on Thursday, although it is going to be a bit strange, I can't have spoken to the girl involved for more than 2 minutes before it was arranged...

But the girl came back...

The thing at the Embassy was good, if anything I was slightly overdressed but well, I would much rather be over dressed then under dressed. For change I didn't meet any exciting new women there, but it was good for industry contacts and an afternoon drinking wine in Knightsbridge is not a bad way to pass the time.

Today has already been girl intensive, I had some emails from a few different contacts, I am meeting one for lunch today.

This morning 'The Actress' texted me asking me about something out of the blue, what makes this weird is that we had been talking about her 30 seconds earlier. I don know if I am going to reply, I think it I did my motives would be some what 'base' but then, well she was rather skilled in that area...

Rare second post of the day.

The lovely P.R. girl with the brown eyes from last night emailed me (isn't technology brilliant) and now we are going to go for cocktails next Thursday.

Marvellous.

Fashion, more ale and some lovely brown eyes.

Yesterday was fairly busy, lots of things were arrange. I am going to meet up with the girl from Totnes for lunch/afternoon cocktails, and we have also penciled in to go vintage clothes shopping together when we are both back home. It should be awfully good fun.

Last night involved two entirely separate parties, the first was a fashion one that was okay, good for business but not really that good for women. I now have a bag full of lipstick which has been added to the pile of goodies that are not that useful for me.

The second party was an another ale/larger/booze with bubbles in tasting I knew a load of people there as they were at the function last week. Everyone was awfully friendly and there was a lovely P.R. girl there who was promoting a lager based on a champagne hops or something. It was rather tasty and she was even more delectable. She was entirely my type, big brown eyes, dark hair and lovely strong features.
There was a bit of eye contact and after we moved on to another drink the person I went to the party with ordered me to give her my card so we can talk about a few things relating to work. When I handed it over she said we should go for cocktails and talk it over. I think this is a lovely idea.

I have been invited to a party at an embassy tomorrow, and I have absolutely no idea what I am going to wear.

The strange temptation of girlfriends.

Not much to report really, I had an awfully quiet weekend of rest and doing lots of little things I have been putting off for an age, and it was lovely.

Today at work The Lady with the Legs appeared and we ended up going for lunch, although I am not entirely sure why. It appears she is not going to New York now for the summer, and also appears to be getting over this other chap. I don't know if anything is going to progress on that side, she is fun to go for lunch with but I don't know if we would work as a couple, which is a shame as I must admit I am tempted by the concept of girlfriends at least, if not the actual reality of them. Oh and the Virgin emailed me, supper is back on for some time next week.

In other news I had a very serious chat with my boss about P.A.s and he agreed that if work carries on like this I am going to need one, the rest of the afternoon was spent deciding on the sort of P.A. would like, it was terribly enjoyable. Pencil skirts are a must, I think a blond would be good as that means I wouldn't hit on her constantly.

Anyway, back onto the subject of girlfriends, I think it must be something in the air as I am constantly thinking of the reasons why they are fun to have around. Here is a list so far.

Picnics in the park - possible reading of books while looking at ducks.
Sunday mornings - lazy reading of news papers (Style and Business sections for me), drinking strong coffee and eating pastries.
Chasing Squealing girls around flats - possibly with water pistols.
Pet names.
Flowers - Buying surprise flowers for them for no real reason.

And a bunch of other things I can't think of right now.

In a lot of ways this really is most worrying - I have a reputation, and it really wouldn't do for me to settle down. There is a cocktail party tomorrow in Kensington so perhaps that will help me get my form back. Yes a few bracing cocktails are definitely what the doctor ordered. I blame all the fruit I have been eating recently, it isn't natural.

Ale and Totnes

I had another surprise party invite yesterday so instead of a night of detox (which is very much needed) I ended up going to a beer tasting meal. This involved going to a lovely little place in Chelsea with tobacco walls and conker wood bars. Upstairs is a delightful dining room that is the perfect mix of opulence and faded glory. With every course we had a special ale or beer designed to compliment the food and add something to the experience, some were better than others but I found the honey flavoured one very nice and beer and cheese is an amazing combination.

I met a few new contacts and a rather lovely P.R. girl with long wavy blond hair and a fantastic profile who happened to be from the West Country, she was awfully nice and has invited me to afternoon tea at a place on Bond Street on the condition that I wear a cravat. This doesn't present a great challenge to me, I think I may get a new one to mark the occasion.

This rather pleasant girl (now the Girl from Totnes) emailed me this morning, so we might even go for some drinks before the event at tea time. She had a very pleasant habit of using my name when talking to me, although she does smoke.

Cocktail of the Week - Mango and Ginger Daiquiri

Yesterday was rather busy, especially on the woman front. I went out for lunch with someone who owns a very well known website, this was a first meeting so I had no idea what she would look like and I was very pleased to find out that she was a pretty girl with dark hair who grew up in the Westcountry. Anyway she mentioned over lunch that she had a boyfriend, although after an awful lot of cocktails including my new favourite (Mango and Ginger Daiquiri) she told me that she wasn't sure she wanted things to get all serious with this chap as she just liked it to be fun.
We both had to go to other meetings so I hopped in a cab back to the office and she went on to meet some other media types. I am sure we will meet up again at some point as we are going to be working together over a few things.

After I got back in the office I lolled about in my chair for a bit re-arranging paperwork, until it was time to leave. I had a bit of a chat with our designer before popping into the meeting in the pub that was going on. I said hello to 'The Lady with the Legs' who was jolly friendly again and the Work Experience Girl before zooming off to meet up with the HipHop lady in a nearby bar.

We had a few drinks but I was suffering the effects of an afternoon of booze and not enough sleep recently so I couldn't help yawning. At about 9 I settled the bill and she got on a bus to leave. She is going to give me a pilates lesson on Friday in my flat which should be, interesting.

Anyway I returned to the meeting in the pub where people were starting to get rather drunk. I had a brief flirty chat with The Work Experience girl about a few things and then she dashed off - she will email me today.
After this I had a chat with 'The Girl with the Legs' who explained what was going on last time we met, which was nice. As I thought the ghost of this previous chap was having an effect again. We talked about this for a while and now that everything was sorted out I hopped onto a bus and went home.

It was a long, long day.

Previously on the M.L.

I Have had a bit of a wild week so I am going to have to do a catch up because I have got awfully behind.

Okay, on Thursday I went to a shop launch and met some interesting people, by people I mean some ladies I thought were pretty. Anyway, I drank the usual rounds of champagne and played about with a chocolate fountain for a bit. After a while the party moved on to a club which was a bit lame. The usual round of z-listers were about but as I was more than drunk enough and the drinks were shockingly expensive. More things happened but I can't remember them now.

Friday:
Went out for a few drinks with L, giggles a lot while eating chips before slinking off home feeling rather worse for wear.

Saturday:
I felt terrible, I did go for a picnic with a girl during the day but spent most of it feeling rough. She was rather disappointing, perhaps the evening is more flattering to her, I also found her voice a bit annoying. Still it is always a nice to go on a picnic.
In the evening I just went to bed early, as I was feeling under the weather.

Sunday & Monday.
Spent with old friends who I haven't seen for ages. It was jolly relaxing and I went for lots of bracing walks in the countryside.
